Itinerary
While Algonquin Park is Canada's most popular canoe trip destination, few people have experienced the stunning beauty of the Park in winter. Frozen lakes, waist-deep snow, wildlife tracks, the howl of a wolf and the crisp clear air are just a few of the delights of a winter experience. The Algonquin Park 3-Day Winter Lodge Adventure offers fantastic opportunities for backcountry snowshoeing and skiing.
This three-day experience features comfortable lodge accommodation at the Algonquin Log Cabin. Located at Algonquin Park, the lodge features authentic Log Cabin construction amidst spectacular wilderness. Accommodation is double occupancy with shared indoor washrooms, as well as a sauna and shower cabin. Group size is limited to 12 guests and two Voyageur Quest guides who prepare delicious meals allowing you to put up your feet after the invigorating day on the trail. This three-day trip leaves Monday and from Toronto and returns Wednesday.
Friday (Day 1)
Rendezvous at the Log Cabin for a hot lunch. After a lesson, spend the afternoon exploring Surprise Lake by snowshoe. A tasty dinner in front of the fireplace completes our day.
Saturday (Day 2)
After a hearty Canadian breakfast, head out on skis to the Almaquin Trail. The trails are incredibly beautiful. For those that are keen for the backcountry, the pine-laced shoreline awaits on Surprise Lake. Other favourite options include ice fishing, Quincy building and toasting toes in the warm confines of the Cabin! Another home cooked feast and further relaxing finishes our day.
Sunday (Day 3)
Explore the Ridge trail by ski or snowshoe to Moose Bay. Enjoy a hot lunch in at a heated canvas wall tent and learn about reflector oven baking. We make our way back to the Cabin for a hot sauna before departing around 3pm.
