The Canoe and Log Cabin adventure is the definition of a classic Algonquin Park adventure. The first half features a three day canoe trip – the quintessential way to experience Algonquin’s wilderness and waterways. The second half takes place at our remote and charming off-grid Log Cabin.
Few things are greater for a family than sharing an adventure and spending quality time together in a natural setting. This 5-Day Algonquin Park family adventure features a combination of camping and Log Cabin accommodation.

Three fantastically cooked meals per day with teas and coffees, way more food than you actually need but you never ever ever go hungry ! It’s not typical campfire food either, I think the food itself is definitely restaurant quality.
The guides interact so so well with guests and their friendships with each other allow you to feel very relaxed and welcomed into their social circle which makes the experience that much better. I think John is a very lucky man to have such awesome staff The canoe tour is perfect for people of all ages and fitness levels. There is a little light lifting but what do you expect when camping and canoeing ! Alex and Seb who took my group for the tour were very knowledgeable about the plant life and wildlife in the area. You can tell they love their job and it makes the experince that much more fun The Log cabin is beautiful ! You could spend hours just looking at all the little decorations and small touches to make it feel so homely. There is no WiFi or electricity and it allows you to completely escape from your regular life. It may sound like a bad thing but it only adds to the experience. Sage, Molly and Emily were incredibly good company and again the being so welcoming and friendly amongst each other makes you feel so included. It honestly feels like you’re with a group of your own friends and they’re taking you to all these cool and amazing places ! The only downside is I couldn’t stay longer. I’m going to Niagara Falls now and I’m actually kinda sad to be leaving. Even the staff I met outwith the guides were lovely. Mark and Mason picked me up and dropped me off and they were both just as friendly as everyone else. 11/10 experience. I will definitely be back ! Gary
This cabin, its staff, its surroundings offer a beautiful, unspoiled respite from urban life. The staff ensures a warm ambiance: the chef, Nic, weaves her knowledge of food into her savoury dishes; the guides, Cedrix and Heather, share their depth of knowledge in other domains such as fauna and flora of the surroundings.

We went on a 5-day family adventure with our tween nephew from France. The first part took us on an amazing 2-day camping and canoeing trip through several lakes in Algonquin Park. We were with four other wonderful people who shared our laughs along with our meals. The trip was a real success thanks to the expert guidance of Jack, our knowledgeable, patient guide. Jack knew the park inside out, and we felt safe under his quiet leadership. He prepared meals, steered everyone towards teamwork around fire building, meal preps and cleanup. He made it fun to participate in all of it, just because everything was well organized in advance.
The second part of our trip consisted of 2 nights at the log cabin on Surprise Lake. Wow, what a stunning place! A little walk down a path will lead you to a sauna and shower, and just around the corner, you can relax on the deck by the lake. Cedrix, just like Jack, can read nature to determine if it’s going to rain; he took us on several trails to show us edible plants or animal tracks.
Although we booked the tour to show a bit of Canadiana to our nephew, we were hooked and are already talking of going back during the winter.
