ALGONQUIN AS AN OPTION TO SHELTER IN PLACE

Seeking some space? Looking for an option to self-isolate after travel or to maintain social distance? Our fully contained lakeside cottages are now available for week-to-week rentals, providing a safe and private alternative for ‘Sheltering in Place’.

With the emergence of the COVID-19, a global pandemic, we find ourselves in unchartered waters riding out a wild storm. We hope you and your family are staying healthy.

As of today, April 1, 2020, Ontario is in state of emergency with orders to stay home and self-isolate. Algonquin Park and backcountry travel are closed until further notice. Our Algonquin Park guiding operation is currently closed until May 10, 2020, or a date issued by the Ontario Government. Our outfitter, Voyageur Outfitting, has also pushed back its opening date until May 10,2020 (pending an update from the government). Our canoes are “bookable” and we do encourage you to make a reservation, as we anticipate a high demand for rentals when the time comes.

Our Algonquin accommodation, along with other Ontario Resorts, have been deemed an “essential service” by the Ontario government (March 26, 2020 announcement) and as such are available for those who need a cabin or cottage to self-isolate. Please note these are special rentals and if you are looking for this type of cabin, please contact our office. Arrangements are made on a case by case basis.

With heightened care and attention we have implemented stringent sanitation practices at our cottages. These procedures are outlined here.

Looking ahead, there will be an end to this. Our team of canoe guides, lodge guides, cook, chef, cleaners, support workers – are all on stand by, waiting, for this to pass. We can’t wait to see you again and do what we love to do. Show off our Algonquin Paradise.

We are currently shaping a COVID operating procedure anticipating a slightly different world when we come out of this. If you have a guided trip booked for spring, summer or fall 2020 and are not able to come, we are offering credits to postpone your adventure to 2021.

We will be posting weekly updates here so do the check-in for the latest. Our office is working remotely and available for email and telephone calls.

We will be canoeing, hiking and adventuring again soon. In the meantime, let’s all do our part, self-isolate and keep the faith for that day when we can all be outside together again.

Warm Wishes,

John
