How to get to Algonquin Park without a car?

If you live in the city, you’re likely not to own a vehicle. Renting one—especially solo—can be expensive. Add rising insurance rates, gas, and long-distance mileage fees, and that quiet canoe trip suddenly feels a lot less calm.

At Voyageur Quest, we believe the wilderness should be accessible to everyone. That’s why we’ve crafted simple, reliable, and affordable transportation options that make it easy to leave Toronto behind and step into the pine-scented quiet of Algonquin Park.

Daily Transportation from Toronto to Our Local Town

Whether you’re gearing up for a 3-Day Algonquin Park Canoe Trip or joining us at the Algonquin Log Cabin, getting here is easier than ever. We proudly partner with two Ontario transportation companies offering daily service from Toronto to South River—our local town and gateway to Adventure.

1. Ontario Northland – Morning Departure

    • Departs Toronto Yorkdale at 9:10 a.m. daily

    • Comfortable coach service straight up Hwy 11

    • Arrive in South River, where our team meets you for your transfer to the Algonquin base

This morning option pairs perfectly with our arrival-day packages or a leisurely afternoon paddle at the Log Cabin.

2. Northern Airport Shuttle – Afternoon Departure

    • Departs Pearson Airport at 2:00 p.m. daily

    • Ideal for guests flying into Toronto

    • Drop-offs right in South River, where we take over from there

For international travellers or guests landing mid-day, this service offers a smooth, car-free connection straight to us.

Your Seamless Transfer to the Algonquin Wilderness

Once you arrive in South River—whether by bus or shuttle—Voyageur Quest picks you up and brings you directly to our Algonquin base. No complicated logistics. No waiting around. No expensive one-way rentals.

To make the transition even easier, we offer a special arrival package that complements our signature 3-day adventures.

The Voyageur Quest Transportation Package

Instead of rushing into your trip, settle into the forest with an evening of comfort and nature.

Here’s what’s included:

    • Pick-up in South River

    • Afternoon paddle or, in winter, a snowshoe on frozen lakes and wooded trails

    • Chef-prepared dinner

    • Cozy overnight accommodation

    • Delicious breakfast the following morning

The timing of this package aligns beautifully with our trip schedules:

No rushing. No stress. Just a warm, gentle landing in the wilderness.

Looking for Something More Direct? Try Our Private Car Service or Fly to Algonquin

For guests who prefer door-to-door convenience, we also offer a private car service with pickup available from downtown Toronto hotels. It’s comfortable, flexible, and ideal for small groups, families, or travellers seeking a premium start to their wilderness getaway. Looking for something special? Book a float plane and fly to our dock!

FAQs

Can I drive directly to the Algonquin Log Cabin or to the mainland Cottages?

Yes,  you can drive directly to both the Algonquin Log Cabin and to the mainland Cottages.

Yes,  there is a small parking area at the Algonquin a few steps away from the front door of the Log Cabin. Similarly, the mainland cottages have parking.

In winter, the roads to both the Algonquin Log Cabin and the Mainland Cottages are plowed and are considered “snow roads”. Snow roads mean they are plowed into packed down snow which you are able to drive on! Snow tires are recommended.

When you check in to the Outfitter, there is a parking lot right next to it where you can leave your car. We will be taking you over to your island stay by boat from the Outfitter.
