It means that our cabin is not hooked up to grid electricity. We operate without the need for electricity aside from filling our water cisterns from our well, for which we use a generator.
There are two indoor bathrooms for the guests to use in the Log Cabin with flushing toilets. All of the water in the building comes from our well and is filtered for drinking before reaching the faucet.
There is a shower in the shower/sauna house was fitted with an electric pump on solar power to offer solid water pressure.
No. There is no electricity and no Wifi. There is a cell phone repeater tower within a 5 minute drive where you can get service.
Nope.
Yes you can drive right to the Log Cabin and the roads are plowed and are considered “snow roads”. Snow roads mean they are plowed into packed down snow which you are able to drive on! Snow tires are recommended.

There are as many as 12 guests on each trip and three staff members. Our guests range in age and nationality. We do our best to sort our guests into like-demographics (ie: families together; adults together). It’s not unusual for guests to be trading emails at the end of their trips – it’s easy to make friends when you’re having so much fun!
You do not require any prior experience. We host a range of guests from first-timers to grizzled outdoors people every week. Our pace is relaxed and the objective is to have fun, slow down, and leave plenty of time to explore the beauty of the Algonquin area.
You should be able to be active for up to four hours (walking pace) at a time. While travelling in the backcountry, we make frequent stops for snacks, hydration, toilet, and to admire the gorgeous views!
We provide fresh and mostly whole-foods meals that are prepared with care and skill. Whether you are in the backcountry or in our Algonquin Log Cabin, you will be served appetizers, main courses, and desserts. Our guests are consistently impressed with our elevated cuisine. Please explain in detail any special dietary needs or allergies you might have during your booking. Kid-friendly foods are added to Family Trips.
We are happy to accommodate dietary requirements. For more specialty diets such as dairy free, vegan or gluten there is an additional charge. Please be sure to describe your requirement in detail when making your booking. For severe allergies, it is recommended that you bring 2 EpiPens with you.
