What's included
3-6 nights Island rental , use of a canoe, canoe lesson and island orientation.
Stunning Location
1km out in the middle of Kawawaymog Lake, the island is very private. Explore the neighbouring islands or paddle down the river at Amable du fond River at sunrise. Keep your eye out for Bald Eagles, Moose in the bays and loons.
Unplug and Unwind
Free from cell phones and 100% off the grid, the cabin is the perfect place to get lost. Add on wifi for an additional cost.
Well equipped Kitchen
The island has a well equipped kitchen, BBQ and firepit. Don't feel like cooking? Head to the licensed Broken Paddle Patio for BBQ dinners.
Add to your stay
Add on catered meals or a shop that will have your food waiting for you on arrival. Add stand up paddle boards or a float plane to get you on the island in an hour flight from Toronto.

FAQs for Island Retreat
It means that our Island Retreat is not like your home and not hooked up to the Ontario Power Electricity. We operate on solar power to provide lights and run the water pumps to our well.
Yes, we operate on solar electricity. Our fridge, stove, water heater run on propane gas. Please note there is not have enough power to plug in electronics. Talk to our office if you require power. Be sure to bring spare batteries for your devices when you visit!
Yes, we provide towels and linens. We provide bath towels but not beach towels. If you think you might need some additional towels, we would advise you to bring some spare ones (as per our sustainability policy) as we do not provide extras.
There is a bathroom with marine-flush toilet and a hot shower.
Water from the tap is not drinkable. The Voyageur Quest team will supply drinking water during your stay.
The Island Retreat comes with one canoe, paddles, and PFDs. Additional canoes, kayaks, and SUP boards can be rented from our Voyageur Outfitting store, just a 15 minute paddle away.
Yes, you can fish on the lake, river and surrounding area. You must have your own Ontario fishing license and Outdoors Card. For non-Canadian residents, see 1-day permits here
Fishing rods and tackle can be rented from our Voyageur Outfitting store.
Single meals or fully-catered meal packages are available – contact our office for more information. The Broken Paddle Patio is licensed and offers outstanding dinners. Please ensure you make a reservation.
We do love dogs and you are more than welcome to bring your furry friend. Please note that you are responsible
for cleaning up after your dog and for any damage to furniture, floors etc. that your dog may cause. An additional damage deposit of $250 is required for guests with pets.
We recommend all of our customers purchase CANCELLATION INSURANCE from their preferred suppliers. Please read the payment and cancellation policies below based on the adventure or product you are booking.
Voyageur Quest – Guided Trips (Canoe, Kayak, Winter Camping, Private & DOE) and Lodge-Based Adventures – Log Cabin, Cottages and Island and all Cottage and Cabin Rentals
Payment Policy. A 25% deposit with “to book” form information confirms the booking. The balance is due 30 days before the trip. Full payment is due for trips booked within 45 days of the trip date. Please note a 2.4% credit card fee is applied. We encourage e transfer or bank wire transfer wherever possible.
Cancellation Policy. Cancellation received 60 days or more prior to the trip – Full refund minus a $75.00 admin. fee. Cancellation received less than 60 days – Loss of initial deposit. Cancellation received less than 30 days – No refund will be issued without the purchase of cancellation insurance, purchased at the time of booking from your travel insurance provider.
