The Manitou & Lost Dog Cottage rental features 3 bedrooms: one queen, one bunk bed and a large room with 3 sets of bunkbeds (linens provided), an open-concept living/dining room with a wood stove, a small reading room with a pull out single couch, 2 washrooms and a fully-equipped kitchen. The cottage sits on 300+ feet of shoreline on beautiful Kawawaymog Lake, with a bautiful new deck and dock to enjoy the sun and water!
The Manitou and Lost Dog cottage rental offers a quiet nature escape for a family or group of friends. Canoe into Algonquin Park, hike the Forgotten trails, swim, fish, relax and unwind.
With 2 bedrooms plus a sleeping cabin, the Manitou and Lost Dog is comfortable for a family or group up to 10 people. Off the grid, the cottage is solar powered with kitchen, washroom, BBQ , firepit, deck and dock. Wifi is included!

Attached by a new addition, the Lost Dog Bunkie has 3 bunk beds (6 single beds) and a small seating area in one open-concept room and a connected private washroom with shower. A canoe with paddles is included with this rental.
Algonquin's northwest does not have cell coverage offering a true escape from your day to day. Add on WIFI for an additional cost
Cook or BBQ in the well equipped kitchen. Don't feel like cooking? Add on catered meals or head to the licensed Broken Paddle patio at the top of the lake.
Add a stand up paddle board, kayak, fishing equipment. Our outfitter is located just 1km away and can help with equipment rentals.

It means that the Manitou Cottage is not like your home and not hooked up to the Ontario Power Electricity. We operate on solar power to provide lights and run the water pumps to our well.
Wifi is available for an additional cost! There is no cell service. Telephone access is available in the summer just a short drive away at our Voyageur Quest and Voyageur Outfitting Office, Store, Patio.
Yes, we operate on solar electricity. Our fridge , stove , water heater run on propane gas. Please note these cottages do not have enough power to plug in certain items. Talk to our office if you require power. Be sure to bring spare batteries for your devices when you visit!
Yes, we provide towels and linens. We provide bath towels but not beach towels. If you think you might need some additional towels, we would advise you to bring some spare ones (as per our sustainability policy) as we do not provide extras.
Yes. Out of respect for our neighbours on Kawawaymog Lake, there is a strict 10 PM noise policy. We ask that guests turn off electronic music and keep noise to minimum after 10 PM.
There are two washrooms on the main floor. One has a flush toilet, sink and shower. The other has a toilet with sink.
We provide drinking water.
The Manitou comes with one canoe, paddles, and PFDs. Additional canoes, kayaks, 9.9 HP motorboat and SUP boards can be rented from our Voyageur Outfitting store, just a few minutes down the road.
Yes, you can fish on the lake, river and surrounding area. You must have your own Ontario fishing license and Outdoors Card. For non-Canadian residents, see 1-day permits here
Fishing rods and tackle can be rented from our Voyageur Outfitting store.
Single meals or fully-catered meal packages are available – contact our office for more information. The Broken Paddle Patio is licensed and offers outstanding dinners during summer months. Please ensure you make a reservation.
We do love dogs and you are more than welcome to bring your furry friend. Please note that you are responsible for cleaning up after your dog and for any damage to furniture, floors etc. that your dog may cause. The cost is $95 for 2 dogs max and there is a an additional damage deposit of $250.
We recommend all of our customers purchase CANCELLATION INSURANCE from their preferred suppliers. Please read the payment and cancellation policies below based on the adventure or product you are booking.

Payment Policy. A 25% deposit with “to book” form information confirms the booking. The balance is due 30 days before the trip. Full payment is due for trips booked within 45 days of the trip date. Please note a 2.4% credit card fee is applied. We encourage e transfer or bank wire transfer wherever possible.
Cancellation Policy. Cancellation received 60 days or more prior to the trip – Full refund minus a $75.00 admin. fee. Cancellation received less than 60 days – Loss of initial deposit. Cancellation received less than 30 days – No refund will be issued without the purchase of cancellation insurance, purchased at the time of booking from your travel insurance provider.
